Kathy Krause

 



    Kathy is the drummer for Australia's band Last House On The Left. Kathy plays a Rogers Kit with Sabian Cymbals.  Kathy decided to take up drumming after seeing L7 live and thinking that it looked pretty easy (and she can hide behind them).
    She has been drumming since 1993.  Kathy has received many positive comments about her drumming including comments from other well known Australian artists.   Kathy has been described as Australia's Best Female Drummer. Often at gigs a group of people (usually) guys will form as close to the drum kit as possible. Comments from these groups are usually things like "how does she do that" and "where is that sound coming from"?
Influences:
Music: Anything except techno.
Books: Horror, vampire, anything macabre or bizarre.
Film: Horror movies.
First Album:  Prince-Purple Rain (yes this is true, I've still got it)

Kathy's kit is a 6 piece  - consisting of a 24" Bass drum, Rogers Wooden snare, Rack 1- 12", Rack 2 - 14", Floor - 16", and to the right of the floor another Rack tom - 10".  She has 4 foot pedals which is double kick, HH and Woodblock.  Cymbals are HH -,  Ride - 18", 2 x Crash - 16", China boy - 14"

Last House on the Left formed in January 1998 when Vanessa and Kathy met Joscelyn through an advertisement in a local music store which was placed there by a musically frustrated Vanessa. Since that date they have not stopped playing. They have been traveling all over Australia with many well know Australian artists.

Last House On The Left's, self titled, debut EP is available online now (yes they do accept US$), and it is receiving a great response from radio and media. Last House has also been featured on Australian and International radio stations including Triple J and WMUA (in USA).  The songs 'Wasted' and 'Freak Magnet' reached 31 and 48 respectively in the 4zzzfm Top 100 for the year 2000. The EP has reached number 3 on the 4zzzfm top 5.

As well as radio play, the Last House on the Left video for the song 'Wasted' has been featured on music television programs including A&V, Rage and MTV and channel[V].
 
Last House On The Left  have completed the recording stage of their new album.  It's now off to the mixing stage and the girls are very excited about the way the project is turning out. They have planned to have a single from the album released within the next 2 months.
